DIY Holiday Gift Ideas With That Outdoors-y Touch

Sometimes you just don’t know what to buy for someone on your gift list. It happens. It can be frustrating, and, time consuming searching and searching for that ‘just right’ gift.

Well, we may have a solution for you. We had fun putting these five outdoors-y DIY holiday gift ideas together to send a little inspiration your way. Don’t be put off by the DIY part, the items we used were easy to find (places like popular stores, the grocery store), and easy to put together. We think they make attractive looking gifts, too!

Each of these would make a unique gift for family, or for dear friends. If anyone on your Christmas list enjoys being outdoors in the crisp and chilly weather of winter, then these gifts may be just the ticket.

You can mimic these ideas, or change it up a bit to make your own version. So here we go –

~  Sitting by the Outdoor Fireplace Gift ~

This gift is for the couple who loves to take in the chilly evenings around the outdoor fireplace, or fire pit, with a hot drink and a cozy blanket.

The items that we used to make this gift are: a blanket, a bag of good coffee, two over-sized mugs, a thermal carafe, biscotti for dunking, and a carrying tray lined with a beautiful place mat for accent.

~ Snowman Making Gift ~

The Snowman gift is for an outdoor activity the family can do together. This gift has the fixings for one joyful snowman. The items you used to make this gift are: a large hat, a scarf, various sizes of evergreen cones – 3 large pine cones for the eyes and the nose, and 7 tiny pine cones for the big smile, and a holiday cookie tin for the gift box.

After our ‘photo shoot’, we had the thought that it would be a great idea to include envelops of hot cocoa mix in this gift. To pack the tin, we thought the hat would lay on the bottom, the scarf length would encircle the inside perimeter of the tin creating an opening in the center for the pine cones.

~ Feeding The Birds Gift ~

Do you have someone who loves to feed and watch the birds in the winter on your gift list? We found these very uniquely designed bird feeders online (source below). Their red festive color makes it easy to spot from inside the house, and would be lovely contrasted with the snow. Pair a feeder up with a container of bird seed!

~ Scented Nature Gift ~

Bring the outdoors, indoors. Pine cones are one of nature’s ornaments. We thought this arrangement of pine cones scented with cinnamon is a perfect Christmas-y fragrance. Arranged on this white star shaped dish all tied up with a pretty ribbon. We noticed that a little of this scent goes along way!

~ Goodies For a Nature Walk ~

This gift is for the couple on your list who love to take long walks through the park, or along nature trails. The items we used in creating this gift are: a blanket for when sitting on the bench, hot cocoa mix, a thermos to keep the cocoa hot, and a box of shortbread cookies.

A tote bag similar to this one would make an attractive ‘gift bag’, and to hold everything during the adventure.

We hope this gave you an idea or two for a holiday gift, and that you have as much fun creating them as we did!
